Having accurate and up-to-date information synced from Marketo to Databricks is crucial for data operations and analytics.

However, there is no native integration between these two systems to make it happen.

Luckily, Polytomic enables fast data syncing between Marketo and Databricks.

This blog post will explore how you can use Polytomic to set up a sync between Marketo and Databricks in less than five minutes. No coding required.

Step 1 - Setup

Once you get started with Polytomic, the first thing you’ll do is connect Marketo and Databricks to Polytomic.

To connect Marketo, you will need to enter three pieces of information: Client ID, Client Secret, and the Web Services REST API endpoint. Our docs page will help you find this information.

To connect Databricks, you will need to setup a SQL endpoint with the correct permissions within Databricks. You will need to take the steps outlined on our docs page to do this.

Once everything is connected to Polytomic, the next step is to create your data model.

Step 2 - Create a Bulk Sync

When syncing to a data warehouse like Databricks, you will set up what is known as a bulk sync.

When setting up this bulk sync, you will choose the source system (Marketo in this case) and your destination (Databricks in this case). You can then choose the output schema within Databricks that you’d like to send the data to or create a new one.

You can then select the objects and fields from Marketo that you’d like to have synced over. Most of our customers sync all of their objects and associated fields in bulk (hence why it’s called a ‘bulk sync’), but you could also choose specific objects or even specific fields within those objects.

With all of the data selected, the last thing you need to do is choose your sync frequency. It could be continuous, hourly, daily, weekly, one-time, or based on a custom schedule.

Once saved, you can sync five random records to make sure everything is working as expected, and then turn on the sync to run according to the schedule you set.

And that’s it! Your data is now seamlessly flowing from Marketo to Databricks.
